What we build

Membership and subscription platforms

Selling access instead of hours changes the business. It also changes the software, because the day somebody joins is the easy part and everything expensive happens in the months afterwards.

What it is

A membership platform handles who has paid, what that entitles them to, what happens when the payment fails, and how the thing they are paying for reaches them.

Platforms that do this exist and are worth using when they fit. They stop fitting when the cut becomes real money, when your brand is behind theirs, or when what you are selling is not shaped like the courses and communities they were designed for.

When a business needs one

  • A platform takes a percentage of revenue you now know is worth owning
  • Your members see somebody else's brand more than they see yours
  • Content is released manually because there is no way to schedule it properly
  • Failed payments are found out about late, or not at all
  • What you sell does not fit the shape the platform expects, so you are working around it

What we can build

Capability, not a claim about work already delivered. What we have actually built and run is further down the page.

  • Plans, recurring payments, upgrades and the failure handling underneath them
  • A members area, on the web or in your own app on both stores
  • Content released on a schedule, or unlocked by progress rather than by date
  • Groups, so one message reaches one slice of your members rather than everybody
  • Check ins, progress tracking and the things that make somebody come back next week
  • Cancellation and data export that behave properly, because the law expects it
  • Admin for whoever runs it day to day, including refunds and shutting something down

How we approach it

Retention is the design problem, not signup. We build the thing that gives a member a reason to open it in week six first, because that is the number the business lives on.

Payment failure, cancellation and refunds get built at the start. They are the least interesting screens and the ones that decide whether the revenue is real.

See it working

A short film of one of our own demonstrations, recorded from the running software. Every company in it is invented, and the link opens the real thing.

Tell us what you are trying to fix

Describe the job in your own words and we will tell you what we would build, roughly what it would cost, and whether something you can already buy would do it cheaper.
